Access Statement For Shakespeare's View

 

Introduction

Shakespeare's View was built in the 1990s as 2 cottages on the brow of a hill.  The whole house is built on different levels, every room a step or two up and down.

Pre-Arrival
 
We have a clear website, showing pictures of the property.  On booking we would be happy to send out our brochure in larger typeface when requested. Our Access Statement is on the website, clearly showing stating our accessibility.

The nearest town to Snitterfield is Stratford Upon Avon, which has rail and bus services, although bus services to the village are sporadic.  It is therefore essential to have your own means of transport, to enjoy exploring Shakespeare Country and the surrounding area, as Taxis can prove expensive.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
 
Guest have the use of off road parking, Shakespeare's View has 1 garage, and 2 forecourt parking area, which is well lit.

The detached garage is level with the road Kings Lane.  However access to the rear garden and house is down a flight of stairs with 13 narrow step made of rough brick.  There is a handrail.  Access to the house is up 3 steps made of smooth blue brick.

Main Entrance & Reception
 
The decoration of the house is bright with very good lighting, the interior is on different levels, a step up over the threshold into the entrance corridor, and a small step down into the Sitting room and dinning room.  Access to the garden through the conservatory is down 3 wide York stone steps with no handrail. 

Lounge, Dining Room

There are a number of different lightings systems provided throughout the house, which gives our guests, with alternative needs for either brighter or dimmer or natural light.

The lounge is for guests use and is a large room with comfortable seating, and open log fire for our guests.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are offered to our guest.

Bedrooms
 
The guest bedrooms 1 double with private shower room, and 1 twin/double with ensuite shower room, are situated on the first floor, which is accessed up and flight of stairs with 14 steps, the stair case is a little steep.  There is a handrail in keeping with the age of the property.

Once on the first floor there are no further steps.  Both rooms are large and well lit, centrally heated, with adjustable thermostats, we also supply additional heating for our guests comfort.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Private]
 
Both shower rooms are large, well ventilated, bright rooms.  We do not have grab rails to either the shower of toilet areas.

Grounds and Gardens
 
We have a mature large garden, with lawn and shrubs, surrounded by our own 10 acre Plum orchard.  The terrain is sloping, and the orchard uneven under foot.  The patio, over looking the garden and orchard, has a selection of seating for our guests.

Additional Information
 
There are smoke alarms in strategic areas throughout the house.

Emergency help can be summoned through the ringing of a bell on the ground floor
